What would Louis Armstrong sound like if he were a contemporary artist?

Probably Jumaane Smith…

Jumaane Smith is releasing his much-anticipated third album, Come on Home, on August 16, 2024 on the Zinn Music record label. Comprised of mostly original works by Jumaane Smith, this deeply emotional album seamlessly traverses jazz, blues, and contemporary soul, with nostalgic echoes of classic albums from those genres. Jumaane Smith’s critically-acclaimed debut album, “I Only Have Eyes For You,” featured special guests Michael Bublé, Jackie Evancho, and Naturally 7, and his sophomore album, “When You’re Smiling,” was released to much praise in January 2020.

COME ON HOME represents a deeply personal and ultimately redeeming homecoming for me. While the title song expresses the pain and blues of personal loss, the album tells a story that includes early trauma and grief alongside the joy and refuge I found in jazz. Following an illustrious sideman career - with Harry Connick, Jr., Jackie Evancho, and an 18-year run with Michael Buble - I am now taking center stage as bandleader and composer. With this album, comprised of my original work and new arrangements, I am truly coming home.
